SUMMONS

THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI
TO: ANY AND ALL PERSONS HAVING OR CLAIMING ANY LEGAL OR EQUITABLE INTEREST IN THE LAND SOLD FOR TAXES ON AUGUST 28, 2023, HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED PROPERTY:
The North Half (N ½) of the following described land:
Beginning at a point on an extension of North Main Street in the Town of Plplarville where the existing fence on the North line lf the Joseph A. Pertuit property, which fence has been recognized as the boundary line for more than ten years (which point according to the survey of L. W. Stockstill, County Surveyor, dated April 5, 1967, is 228 feet South of the Northwest corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW 1/4 of SE 1/4) of Section 19, Township 2 South, Range 15 West, and being the same point measured by Dan Hillman as being 336 feet South of the Northwest corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW 1/4 of SE 1/4) of said Section 19, which point being designated by H. C. Moody, civil engineer, as being 215 South of the Northwest corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW 1/4 of SE 1/4) of said Section 19, which point is agreed on the ground to be the fence corner); thence run South 89 degrees 45 minutes East along said fence line 215 feet; thence run North along said fence line 7 feet, more or less, to a fence corner; thence run Northerly to the point where said right-of-way of New Orleans and Northeastern Railroad; thence run Northerly to the point where said right-of-way intersects the fence along the South boundary of the Floy Mood property; thence run Westerly along said fence to a point where said fence intersects the Eastern boundary of North Main Street; thence run Southerly along the East boundary line of said North Main Street 299 feet to the Point of Beginning.
LESS AND EXCEPT: that certain parcel of land conveyed to William E. Culpepper and wife, recorded in Book 193, page 132 of the Land Deed Records of Pearl River County, Mississippi, and being described as follows: Beginning at a point on the extension of North Main Street in the Town of Poplarville wher the existing fence on the North line of the Joseph A. Pertuit property, wheich fence has been recogniaed as the boundary line for more than (10) years (which point according to the survey of L. W. Stockstill, County Surveyor, dated April 5, 1967, is 228 feet South of the Northwest corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW 1/4 of SE 1/4) of Section 19, Township 2 South, Range 15 West, and being the same point measured by Dan Hillman as being 336 feet South of the Northwest corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW 1/4 of SE 1/4) of said Section 19, which point being designated by H. C. Moody, civil engineer, as being 215 South of the Northwest corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW 1/4 of SE 1/4) of said Section 19, which point is agreed on the ground to be the fence corner); thence run South 89 degrees 45 minutes East along said fence line 215 feet; thence run North along said fence line 7 feet, more or less, to a fence corner; thence East along said fence line 560 feet, more or less, to the West line of the right-of-way of the New Orleans and Northeastern Railroad; thence Northerly along said right-of-way 158 feet; thence run West 840 feet, more or less, to the East boundary of said North Main Strees at a point 142 feet North of the Point of Beginning; thence run South 142 feet to the Point of Beginning, and being a party of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (NW 1/4 of SE 1/4) of Section 19, Township 2 South, Range 15 West, Pearl River County, Mississippi.
You have been made a Defendant in the Petition filed in this Court by DEEP SOUTH, LLC, the Petitioners, seeking to CONFIRM TAX TITLE. Defendants other than you are County of Pearl River, State of Mississippi, Hal Kitrell, District Attorney, and the Unknown heirs and/or successors in interest to A. L. Reid.
You are required to mail or hand-deliver a copy of a written response to the Complaint to the Attorney for the Plaintiff, James L. Gray, 101 E. Canal Street, Ste. E, Post Office Box 1682, Picayune, MS 39466.
YOUR RESPONSE MUST BE MAILED OR DELIVERED NOT LATER THAN THIRTY (30) DAYS AFTER THE 18th DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2026, WHICH IS THE DATE OF THE FIRST PUBLICATION OF THIS SUMMONS. IF YOUR RESPONSE IS NOT MAILED OR DELIVERED, A JUDGMENT BY DEFAULT WILL BE ENTERED AGAINST YOU FOR THE MONEY OR OTHER RELIEF DEMANDED IN THE COMPLAINT.
You must also file the original of your response with the Clerk of this Court within a reasonable time afterward.
